Kaiser received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. After spending a year in China, he returned to the U.S. and received a Masters in East Asian Studies from the University of Arizona. He was the founder of China’s first and most successful Heavy Metal band, Tang Dynasty, and continues to be active in the Chinese music scene as lead guitarist of his band Chun Qiu. He lives in Beijing with his wife and two young children.
